What It’s All About by Coach Chad

Geez I hate writing these…

The end of another school year means two things:

  1. I am another year out from having graduated college (Class of ’06 – yeesh!).
  2. Another mass exodus of college students is taking place.

While we’ve lost some great students in the form of members (mad love y’all!), it’s always far more painful to lose my coaches. Coaches are mah peeps. They get me on a personal level and they support and understand the vision behind CrossFit Local. They represent the best and the brightest that Chapel Hill and the surrounding area have to offer. Losing one of them is like losing a good friend. You wish you’d always had more time to spend together.

But it’s not all gloom and doom. The good news is that the students are moving on to bigger and better things like getting jobs (about time), owning houses and paying bills. In some ways, I consider it an honor to be a part of their formative years. Hopefully they’ve learned things here that will make them into better people and help them change the world in awesome ways.

So¬†Coach Matt, this one’s all for you buddy. It’s been amazing watching you grow as an athlete and as a coach. You exemplify the CrossFit Local mantra. I’m proud of you and I hope that the future holds amazing things for you and Jill.

Just don’t get stronger than me.
