Taking Care of the Whole You by Dr. Kim
By now many of you have seen me working on fellow Locals at the gym. You may pass by and wonder what in the world is she doing and can she help me?
I am a chiropractor, a specialist in neuromusculoskeletal injuries and disorders. My goal is to make sure my patients’ bodies are functioning optimally in both their everyday lives and their hardcore workouts. How do I do this? Well, each patient is different, but I use a mix of functional assessments, muscle and fascia work, skeletal adjustments, and rehabilitation exercises.
People often think they should only seek out care if they have neck or back pain. And there are many chiropractors who only focus on the bones in the neck and the back, but I’m not one of them; I am a full body practitioner. So bring on your plantar fasciitis, bicipital tendonitis, and shoulder and knee pain.
As a full body practitioner, I am proud to offer multiple therapies for my patients. You might think that as a chiropractor I only adjust people’s bones, but that simply isn’t true for me. I care about the whole patient, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and all. Because I want to care for the whole patient, I practice Active Release Technique (ART), Logan Basic Technique, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, kinesiotaping, and other therapies to help my patients heal.
You don’t have to wait until you are injured to seek my care. Just like taking care of any well-oiled machine, getting a tune up can prevent injury and help you stay healthy. This will help you identify any biomechanical faults and give you rehab exercises to correct them before they become symptomatic.
If it’s hitting your next lifting goal, improving your recovery time, or decreasing inflammation and pain, I help my patients meet their needs. Whether it’s at a patient’s home, at their business, or inside of Local, I drive to you to give you the best possible care.
