Trying to Lose Weight? Tips for Champions!
Set yourself up for greatness:
Clean up the house: Clear out the pantries and revamp your fridge! All those “temptation foods” should be given away or tossed (not a big fan of wasting food… so try pawning it off to your neighbor;)). Don’t even have them in the house… because we all know that we have those days where we “Just Can’t”… and when those come around you know it’s time for your favorite (fill in the blank) whether its wine, ice cream, Oreos, potato chips etc. And let’s be real- we all deserve that every once in a while. But if weight loss is the goal try to keep the temptations out of the house as much as possible. As far as the fridge goes… Think fruits, vegetables, pre-cut produce/snacks etc at eye level. By doing so will make you more likely to reach for the right things!
Family meals at home:
When you cook at home you are able to know exactly what you are putting into your food. Keep distractions to a minimum and enjoy family time. At a restaurant it is typically difficult to gauge how many calories you are consuming. Eating at home can make a big difference when trying to cut out those not so good for you calories.
Track your Food:
When you track your food- you are more aware of the food that you are putting into your body. Many of us tend to snack throughout the day or take a bite of food here and there without realizing that we are putting extra calories in the bank. The mini candy bars on your coworkers desk that you snag after lunch- it all adds up in the end! By tracking your food intake, you can see where those sneaky calories are coming in and allow you to be more mindful of the food you are consuming along with your portions.
I know you all are CrossFitting superstars so no trouble here!
When losing weight, it is an added bonus- on top of your clean eating regimen- to include some exercise into your everyday routine. By doing so you can burn some extra calories! Put some pep in your step!
Don’t be too hard on yourself:
Like I said before we all have those days where we, “JUST CANT” and you know what? That is okay! Don’t beat yourself up over it. If you fall off the bandwagon- dust yourself off and jump right back on. If you keep a strict vision for your health routine, you may let one bad choice knock you down for the entire day, week or months. Don’t let yourself do that! Just keep swimming!
